MARCELO AND RONALDO: ONE OF THE BEST DUO IN FOOTBALL HISTORY

When Ronaldo was at Madrid both of them played together. Both of them enjoyed nine happy years playing down the left wing together for Real Madrid. They had a telepathic relationship akin to that of Dani Alves and Lionel Messi. When Ronaldo would drift inside, Marcelo would overlap and knew exactly where to put the ball for his teammate to finish.

This fruitful relationship on the pitch developed into a strong friendship off the pitch. As two of the team's vice-captains, both players became leaders within the dressing room as well as key components of Madrid's team on the field.

So, you can imagine how heartbroken Marcelo was to hear that his friend and colleague was going to depart for a fresh challenge at Juventus.

The Brazilian has now revealed that he didn't find out the shocking news until just before last season's Champions League final, which Madrid won 3-1 against Liverpool in Kiev.

“Damn, we were training for the final and he told me: 'I'm leaving'," the left-back told Marca.

"'I realise that I have lied to you about this before, but that is because I had to," Ronaldo explained, having made up his mind a while before this conversation took place.

Ronaldo didn't waste any time after the Champions League final in hinting that he would be leaving Spain.

He had made similar comments in the past, which always resulted in him getting a nice booster contract. But this time he was not bluffing, he was actually off. And it came as a shock to everyone, especially Marcelo.

Marcelo and Ronaldo were the best duos. Once Marcelo had the chance to score a goal as he was one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Instead of scoring he passed it to Ronaldo who scored. There are many incidents like this that reveals their true friendship. They will remain the best friends forever.

UEFA propose dates for Champions League and Europa League finals UEFA are also looking to play all outstanding ties over one leg if necessary, as clubs await an update on when the competition will restart. UEFA are exploring the possibility of playing the Champions League final on the last Saturday in August. The final was due to be played at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul on May 30, but that date was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The report also claims that there have been discussions about provisionally playing the quarter-final matches from July 28/29, with the rest of the competition concluded in August. While Europa League ties would  be played in the same weeks - but there are still 10 Round of 16 matches to factor into the planning...
Pre mier League could return by mid-June in 'best-case scenario' Premier League clubs have discussed resuming the season on the weekend of 13-14 June after Uefa wrote to domestic associations stating a desire they should finish their competitions by 31 July to leave August clear for the completion of the Champions League and Europa League. The letter from European football’s governing body formed the basis of a two-hour conference call on Friday that explored how the Premier League may be concluded. While any resumption is being modelled on matches occurring behind closed doors, guiding the decision-making is the overriding principle that the National Health Service’s ability to treat those with Covid-19 should not be compromised and that it has to be at ease with the top-flight restart...
